Mini India

A small society it may seem, but embraces a whole India in it. RAAGDARI- as the name suggests a combination of different ragas namely, Basant Bahar, Megh Malhar,Madhuwanti and Baageshri , similarly it resides a lot of people following different religions, speaking different languages and belonging to diverse sections of the society. The best example of its unity and oneness can be seen in the way they celebrate all festivals from khoja-giri poornima, holi, ganesh chaturthi to Christmas and new year. The cultural celebrations at Raagdari are always looked upon with envy by members of other colonies. The fun-filled and masti atmosphere with giving preference to religious ways of celebration gives it a modern and an ethnic approach.

The ganesh chaturthi festival here is celebrated with great zest by people of all age groups. There are pujas and aartis twice a day with various prasad’s distributed after the puja made by all people living there. The society also hosts a talent show for the kids in the evening where kids can showcase their talent in dance and music. Along with talent show, games are also organized for ladies such as antakshari and housie and sports day for children making this festival a complete hit along Raagdarians.

Along with importance given to festivals, the cleanliness and maintenance of the society is also well taken care of. The society has a committee to look after it problems and issues faced by all members headed by Wasudha Korke as the Chairperson. The society has an eight member committee. Each member heading different functions such as security, house-keeping, cultural events etc. An annual general meeting is held to discuss its smooth functioning. Special meeting are also held to discuss urgent issues.

This eight building society having over 140 flats the society also has an in-house Pathology Lab and a dentist’s clinic. Even classes of yoga, personality development, the art of living, tuitions etc are run by members residing in the colony. Raagdari also has a few shops for grocery and laundry. This makes the society self sufficient in its own self.

The Raagdari flat owner’s association has many leisure facilities such as swimming pool, lawn, and club-house, jogging track and also a play area for small kids. With summers approaching, Raagdari’s swimming pool is a hot spot among its members. The society also plans to upgrade their lifts and install fire-fighting equipments, CCTV cameras and intercom services.

The modern outlook with importance given to cultural union of this old but well maintained society makes Raagdari one of the best societies in Aundh.
