Landmannalaugar, the
Highlands, Iceland
Deep in the Highlands of Iceland
lies Landmannalaugar, a unique, undulating landscape made up of rhyolite crags,
lava fields and natural hot springs. The region is favored by hikers who come
in summer to admire the colorful mountains (made bright by geological deposits
over centuries), and to keep watch for the trolls and elves that purportedly
lurk amid the bluffs.
