Make filing of affidavits on-line compulsory for candidates

Dear All,

We fully endorse the Demand made by MADHU GUINNESS to ELECTION COMMISSION for Make filing of affidavits on-line compulsory for candidates for GENERAL ELECTIONS OF LOKSABHA 2014.

This will make the Elections more transparent and Strengthen Democracy. Hence it MUST be made MANDATORY for all ELECTION CANDIDATES for Loksabha in first phase and extended in due course to ALL ELECTIONS , ALL OVER INDIA .

Make filing of affidavits on-line compulsory for candidates

It refers to compulsory filing of affidavits by candidates contesting elections regarding their assets and criminal records etc. But it takes time and spent of man-hours in getting these affidavits scanned and uploaded on website by Election Commission. It should be made compulsory to file these affidavits on-line by the candidates before a signed copy of such affidavits are filed before Election Officers. It should neither be difficult nor costly in present era of advanced Internet-system. Rather Election Commission should on its website incorporate an user-friendly portal where necessary details may be filled up and submitted giving a registration-number. Such on-line affidavits with incomplete data may be rejected. System will automatically take care of the aspect of many candidates fulfilling formality of filing such affidavits without complete details instead writing 'Nil' or 'Not Applicable (NA)' etc. Election Officers should not accept such affidavits where data is hided by writing words like 'NIL', Not Applicable (NA)' etc.

There can be no practical system for Election Commission to verify correctness of each of large number of affidavits filed by so many candidates contesting elections. But system should be to cancel election of elected representatives where complaints filed against their filing wrong and incorrect affidavits are found true.
