Season's Spirit
December is king of the months.
One gets bit reflective on the memories of the year that has almost gone past.
Some ambitious ones plan for the next year while some people gifted with
sangfroid mind correctly just live in present. But then this is a month to
indulge in everything be it food, fun and things you like. And imagine if you
throw in all the birthdays in family, anniversary in the concoction goes crazy.
So this month let’s forget about G20, Presidential woes in US and France,
Brexit, Trade Tariffs, 2019 elections and state elections, forget about Modi’s
religion, forget DeepVeer, forget Picnic (Priyanka and Nick), Bank NPAs,
Sensex, Caste based Reservations, Eternal problems in Pakistan, Yuti and
Aghaadi, Water woes of Pune, Traffic in Pune. So the world is turning in 24
hours as it was and Earth revolving around Sun for another year just like
before. Usual sound bites resounding world over. Let’s sit back and enjoy.
For me Cricket (not playing) is not
just enjoyment but more than way of life, and Cricket in Australia is special.
Itched in the memories are those early morning alarms (though now its late/mid
night parties), channel9 transmission, Final Frontier. Audi, Radio Australia
pre 90s, Ind Aus rivalries filled with sledging, controversies, players,
commentators. It all started in 81 with
me glued to Radio and watching Highlights in the evening with seagulls flying
behind square leg umpire. Chappell’s, Lilee, Border were some tough players.
And that magic spell from my favorite Kapil Dev. Then there were morning ODIs
in B&H trophy in 1985 with colored clothing. India playing some fabulous cricket and it was
great TV experience even on our black and white TV and finally champion of
champion Audi ride. The 85-86 tour was the closest we got to win a series down
under with rebuilding Australia but for rains. This series was followed by ODI Tri
Series typical to Australian Summers which is no longer a feature in Cricket. The
longest tour of 91-92 saw rise of young Tendulkar at Perth. But tour was fiasco
except one win against Pak in WC which started unbeaten run for India vs Pak in
World Cups.

London Is the World's First City to Be Named a National Park
London is on track to become the world's first city to be designated as a National Park. Your days in the spotlight are numbered, Yosemite.
A National Park City is a city that makes a dedicated effort to provide its citizens with park space, encouraging green living among the urban sprawl. The idea came from a former geography teacher named Daniel Raven-Ellison, who started a crowdfunding campaign on London's behalf five years ago. London's mayor Sadiq Khan announced his support last summer, and the designation will become official in July 2019.
"London is not just a city, it's a landscape," Raven-Ellison says. "It's a landscape that's home not just to nearly nine million people, but there are as many trees. We share this city with 15,000 other species of wildlife, and I don't think that urban life is worth any less than that life that we see in maybe those more distant places from cities."

Bush saluted as gentle soul, great man
WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation's capital embraced George H.W. Bush in death Monday with solemn ceremony and high tributes to his service and decency, as the remains of the 41st president took their place in the Capitol rotunda for three days of mourning and praise by the political elite and everyday citizens alike.
With Bush's casket atop the Lincoln Catafalque, first used for Abraham Lincoln's 1865 funeral, dignitaries came forward to honor the Texan whose efforts for his country extended three quarters of a century from World War II through his final years as an advocate for volunteerism and relief for people displaced by natural disaster.
President from 1989 to 1993, Bush died Friday at age 94.
In an invocation opening Monday evening's ceremony, the U.S. House chaplain, the Rev. Patrick J Conroy, praised Bush's commitment to public service, from Navy pilot to congressman, U.N. ambassador, envoy to China and then CIA director before being elected vice president and then president.
"Here lies a great man," said Rep. Paul Ryan, the House speaker, and "a gentle soul. ... His legacy is grace perfected."
Vice President Mike Pence and Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell also spoke.

Clarity in Confusion
Human brain is amazing and it continues to keep our scientists and neurologists busy. But with the constant flow of information in today’s world our brain can go into hyperdrive and result into the concept called information overload. With this comes the state of confusion.
When you are in the confused you could go through a range of emotions that can make you feel powerless, anxious and stressed.
“Nobody can give you wiser advice than yourself.” ~Cicero
For long now, I have been trying to make sense of the confusion I was in. It's easy to shut it out and pretend it doesn't impact me. However I realised I would be alienating myself doing so. I want to be included, involved yet gain clarity in the stage of confusion. Well this is what I figured -
Find the source
There are many untruths out there. Before making any decision, question whether everything you’ve been told about a subject is factually correct. You can do that by finding the source of that information. Who is giving this information?
Also understand it is very easy these days to quote a reputed organisation or research analysis and twist the message. So do your bit of research and get to the root of it.
List your alternatives
When you have so much information it is easy to draw out alternatives from them. So make your list. See how each one fares
Take a bit of time to analyze the course of your action and result that follow. How do you feel with that result. You can also start from the result you want and work backwards to creating alternatives
Talk it out
Sometimes listening to others opinion helps us get our clarity. So look out for someone with the same mental make up as you. Someone with whom you share common belief and talk it out.
You may also engage with a personal coach like me to talk it out and gain clarity.
Remember Your Priorities
Sometimes I tend make decisions that are not in line with my priorities. And when I realised that, I made amends. I now make it point to analyze how my decision can impact my priorities.
Whenever you’re faced with a new decision to make, always think about what else is going on in your life and how this decision will affect it.
Go with your gut feel
Inspite of all the research and analysis, there is no such thing as a purely logical decision. Our brain uses a combination of logic and emotion and this is called as intuition or gut feeling and we use it all the time.
Our intuition is shaped by our past experiences, and knowledge we gained from them. Although you may not be 100% accurate, the more attention you give it, the more powerful and accurate it will become. So trust your gut feeling and go with it
So there you are.. these are not a fool proof steps to gain clarity but these steps can definitely give you direction to begin

- Remember Your Priorities
- Go with your gut feel
I'd like to end this with a thought. It may seem real but confusion is nothing but an illusion. End of the day treat it as it is. Treat confusion as a sign of growing. Because without the existence of confusion there will never be a search for clarity.

Taming the Mammoth: Why You Should Stop Caring What Other People Think
The first day I was in second grade, I came to school and noticed that there was a new, very pretty girl in the class—someone who hadn’t been there the previous two years. Her name was Alana and within an hour, she was everything to me.
When you’re seven, there aren’t really any actionable steps you can take when you’re in love with someone. You’re not even sure what you want from the situation. There’s just this amorphous yearning that’s a part of your life, and that’s that.
But for me, it became suddenly relevant a few months later, when during recess one day, one of the girls in the class started asking each of the boys, “Who do youuu want to marry?” When she asked me, it was a no-brainer. “Alana.”
Disaster.
I was still new to being a human and didn’t realize that the only socially acceptable answer was, “No one.”
The second I answered, the heinous girl ran toward other students, telling each one, “Tim said he wants to marry Alana!” Each person she told covered their mouth with uncontrollable laughter. I was finished. Life was over.

This year I am pursuing a PG in Child and
Family Counselling and last whole month was full of high voltage action! It was
festive time and then it was also time for course work completion, there was
journal writing and there was preparation for the term end exam, practical
sessions and viva voce! I just got done with the exams today and I am as
thrilled today as I used to be during my school days! And trust me; it’s even
more fun to relive your student life again after so many years!
This
Diwali vacation was thus power packed with my new found student status, my love
for making the Diwali faraal and bringing out my fineries.
