Trump suspects coronavirus outbreak came from China lab, doesn't cite evidence

President Donald Trump on Thursday said — without offering any evidence — that he has reason to believe that the coronavirus outbreak originated from a laboratory in China.
Trump initially was asked by a reporter at a White House event on Thursday about the origins of the virus, and answered, "You have heard all different things. Three or four different concepts as to how it came out."

Bodiam Castle, England

An easy day trip from London, the small village of Bodiam contains one of the country's best-preserved castles. The 14th-century castle is about as storybook-perfect as they come. Here, you'll find stone towers with spiral staircases, wooden portcullis, and an all-encompassing moat.

No end in sight: 100,000 crew on cruise ships stranded at sea

While most cruise ship passengers have now made it back to land, another crisis has been growing – with no safe haven in sight.

Around the world, more than 100,000 crew workers are still trapped on cruise ships, at least 50 of which have COVID-19 infections, a Guardian investigation has found. They are shut out of ports and banned from air travel that would allow them to return to their homes.

Best Castle of Europe

Örebro Castle, Sweden

It's impossible to miss Örebro Castle, an ancient-looking fortress sitting on an islet in the middle of Örebro (the seventh-largest city in Sweden). The castle was originally used as a fortress in the 1300s, as evidenced by its tall, granite towers, thick walls, and surrounding moat. It also served as a prison from the time of construction, meaning it has all the windowless dungeons and creepy torture chambers that make these ancient castles even more spooky.

China Mounts Aggressive Defense to Calls for Coronavirus Compensation

China is pushing back against the growing chorus of voices around the world calling for the country to pay compensation for the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

Politicians in the United States are “lying through their teeth,” a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, said at a news briefing on Tuesday.
The spokesman’s comments came one day after President Trump suggested that the United States would seek “substantial” compensation for Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

Sweden says its coronavirus approach has worked. The numbers show a different story

Sweden has been an outlier during the coronavirus outbreak. The country has not joined many of its European neighbors in imposing strict limits on citizens' lives, and images of people heading to work on busy streets, or chatting at cafes and bars have raised eyebrows.

Younger children have continued to go to school, although universities and schools for older students have switched to distance learning. Businesses -- from hair salons to restaurants -- have remained open, although people have been advised to work from home where possible.

South Korea maintains Kim Jong Un health rumors are untrue

A top South Korean official said his country remains confident there have been no “unusual developments” in North Korea, suggesting that rumors about the possible ill health of leader Kim Jong Un are untrue.
Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul told a closed-door forum in Seoul on Sunday that South Korea has “enough intelligence to confidently say that there are no unusual developments” in rival North Korea that would back up speculation about Kim Jong Un's health, according to his ministry.

Scotland practically overflows with ancient stone castles and ruins, but there's something extra special about Eilean Donan Castle. Or perhaps it's because it served as inspiration for DunBroch Castle in the Pixar movie Brave. Whatever the reason, we're here for it.
