Avengers: Endgame goes out with an epic, superhero-stacked bang: EW review

The Avengers are dead. Long live the Avengers. For the millions who watched half the Marvel universe vaporize onscreen in the final moments of 2018’s Infinity War — whole standalone franchises reduced to swirling ash with a sweep of ubervillain Thanos’ meaty paw — there had to be one last sequel to set it right.
Nearly a year to the day, Endgame returns with the promise of many things: revenge, redemption, a runtime that defies the limits of most streetside parking meters. And the movie largely delivers, splashing its ambitious three-hour narrative across a sprawling canvas of characters, eras, and not-quite-insurmountable challenges.

Former vice president Joe Biden jumps into White House race

Former vice president Joe Biden opened his third campaign for the presidency on Thursday, taking direct aim at President Trump and declaring that “we are in the battle for the soul of this nation.”
In a video posted on social media, Biden recounted the deadly clash between white supremacists and counterprotesters at a 2017 gathering in Charlottesville, after which Trump said there were “some very fine people on both sides.”
“In that moment, I knew the threat to this nation was unlike any I had seen in our lifetime,” Biden said, adding: “The core values of this nation — our standing in the world, our very democracy, everything that has made America America — is at stake. That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

Saudi Arabia executes 37 people for "terrorism"

Saudi Arabia has executed 37 men convicted of terror-related crimes, the kingdom's official news agency said Tuesday.
One of the convicts was crucified, according to an interior ministry statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
"The death penalty was implemented on a number of criminals for adopting extremist terrorist ideologies and forming terrorist cells to corrupt and disrupt security as well as spreading chaos and provoking sectarian strife," SPA said in a tweet.
The statement listed the names of the 37 Saudi nationals who were executed in various parts of the country. Saudi Arabia has one of the highest death penalty rates in the world.

Ancient Egyptian Tomb Found With Dozens of Mummies

Archaeologists have discovered an ancient tomb containing dozens of mummies at a site in the south east of Egypt. Cut into rock and hidden behind a stone wall, the tomb contained the bodies of both adults and children stored across multiple burial chambers.
As well as human remains, Egyptian and Italian researchers found artifacts including vases, coffin fragments, intricately decorated masks, cartonnages and a statuette, Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities reported Tuesday.

Top auto execs are privately very worried about the state of car sales

More than two dozen new cars, trucks, crossovers and concept vehicles are made their debut at this week's annual auto show in New York, the sort of roll-out that would traditionally be expected to give a boost to the U.S. new car market.
But despite the almost uniformly bullish speeches at the NY show's media preview Wednesday, there's a sense of growing concern, if not outright pessimism, that came across during interviews and private conversations with industry leaders and analysts at the show, which runs through April 28.
"At best, stagnation is expected for 2019," said Steve Rich, a vice president with auto supplier Autoneum, during the show's opening ceremonies. And that may be an overly optimistic view.
