Unique Identity Card

Imagine a card that can replace your entire important documents. You don’t have to carry photo identity or your address proof every time you went to open your Bank account, buy a sim card or other such other such activity. Keeping all things in mind Government came up with a card which will replace your entire document plus would be your identity too. The card is called Unique Identity Card (UID CARD), also named as Aadhaar.

Making it alive

While writing a story, a writer dreams a lot. While directing, a director have lots of thing in mind. But while making, there comes the problem. Remember the scene from Chak De, when Team India was playing at Australia, you all saw the crowd cheering up team. Do you think that the Production house actually manage to call so much people for the shot? The Army of Akbar from the initial scene from Jodha Akbar was not true. But that seems too real. If there was no army or audience, then how did we able to see what saw? The technology which used is called Visual Effects.

We are together

Aundh used to be a village some 15 yrs back. At that time, a society was constructed thinking in mind the current situation and need, Sirin Garden.
Siring Garden, a huge society which is located at Parihar Chowk, Aundh, is itself as small town, rather say a mini India. Here people have been residing since 1995, and they still stay here. When you enter through the huge gate, you fill like entering into a different world. Mrs. Sheela Bhaumik, Secretary of the Society, says, “People started occupying this place since 1995. I occupied it at 1997. During that time, Aundh was mere a village, a very quiet and calm place to stay with fresh air”.

For fun times

Imagine a place where a 10 yr old kid and 60 yrs old can enjoy together, without compromising anything. Imagine a place where you will get authentic different cuisine without compromising the taste. Imagine a place where you will get a lounge, restaurant and bar, under one roof. These all might seems little impossible, but there is a place which keeps in mind all your requirements and provide you with the best, Zikomo.

SANSKRITI SCHOOL –The School for Life

Every parent is concerned about their child’s future and the school they choose, as this is an important stepping stone of their life. Good teachers, in a school where every child is paid special attention and most importantly there is a perfect environment to study is what every parent is looking out for . As the competition is growing tougher day by day, the pressure is increasing; every child has to go through many challenges.  In this process, children need to keep themselves calm and should have a proper foundation of knowledge and skill sets to face competition.

Missing Tiger

Monsoor Ali Khan Pataudi, nicknamed Tiger Pataudi, was an Indian cricketer and former captain of the Indian cricket team. He was the ninth and last Nawab of Pataudi until 1971.
Pataudi Jr., as Mansoor came to be known during his cricket career, was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. He was a schoolboy batting prodigy at Winchester, relying on his keen eyes to punish the bowling. He captained the school team in 1959, scoring 1,068 runs that season and beating the school record set in 1919 by Douglas Jardine. He also won the public schools rackets championship, with partner Christopher Snell.

At your Service…

Everyone wants to grab something good whenever they get time to spend an evening with family or friends. And when it’s a special occasion, we look for something especial. Barbeque Nation is a place that might fulfill all your dreams of having a nice ambience, soft music, different cuisines and lot more.
Barbeque Nation took care of its customer. Keeping the on-going festive season, they hosted Veggieque which was especially for their pure vegetarian customers. During this, which started from September 1 till September 11, they had various dishes which were made keeping in mind the taste of those who are either pure vegetarian or turn vegetarian during the Ganesha festive.
Barbeque has a concept of cooking half prepared food in front of the customers to help them serve really hot. For starters, they had mixture of taste which would serve the appetite. They had Bucket Mushroom, Grilled Veg, Kaju Spicy Potato, Pineapple, Corns to name a few. They had chilly, medium chilly, crispy, sweet, sour taste so that you won’t get bore by having starters which are almost of one taste. The starters served here are unlimited. The items mentioned are normally present there. They also serve soft and hard drink of your choice along with the dinner.

Evolution of Animation

Animation is not a new term to the world. It has been there since a long years. Walt Disney created Micky Mouse in a piece of paper and gave it life through this technique. Initially, the animation was done by drawing the action and then moving it in a speed which gave an illusion of its movement. But as the technology took developed, animation also evolved and developed with it. Now days, the animation is done on computer with the help of programs developed especially for it. Let’s take a ride from the traditional technique to the modern methods.

Traditional methods:
Traditional animation (also called cell animation or hand-drawn animation) was the process used for most animated films of the 20th century. The individual frames of a traditionally animated film are photographs of drawings, which are first drawn on paper. To create the illusion of movement, each drawing differs slightly from the one before it. The animators’ drawings are traced or photocopied onto transparent acetate sheets called cells, which are filled in with paints in assigned colors or tones on the side opposite the line drawings. The completed character cells are photographed one-by-one onto motion picture film against a painted background by a rostrum camera.

Is everything alright?

Delhi has witnessed two big events at one day. This event was not good but was something which was of great concern. During morning the blast took place which took many lives and during the evening the capital was shook by the earthquake.
This is something which is really of great concern. Delhi is always on the hit list. It seems like Delhi and Mumbai are having competition on getting more attention of terrorists. It’s not new but in past also, both the important cities; one being the capital of Nation and other being the Financial capital of the Nation. In both metro there is always a high alert.

Ladies taking the front seats

Men might disagree to this but ladies are very well manager. Kubera Gulshan has been witnessing for the last three years. A society of about 113 families, out which 10% are tenants, has been celebrating Ganesha festival for the last 10 years but it’s only three years, they make a separate committee for the Ganesha festival only which gets dissolve after the function.
Talking about the need of a separate committee for this festival, Vinaya Vaidya, treasurer, says, “The main committee is having more of male members. They are busy in their work so much that they fail to pay attention to this side. So we decided to have a separate committee who will look after the festival and will get dissolved after the work is done. It’s been our third year of this activity”. This committee has ladies taking the front seat and looking after the management of the festival.

We are family

It’s been said, ‘Society is a big family’. This saying is been taken care at Sirin Garden who have celebrated the Ganesha Festival with full enthusiasm and just like a family. With the families of about 200 in 18 different building, this festival is just the beginning of their celebration.
Poonam Gulliani, the cultural head, has tried to manage it well. “It’s been almost 10 years we are celebrating festival in our society. Over these years, we have grown as a family”, says she. Celebrating a festival in a society has always been a troublesome. But this society has learnt how to tackle those. “Normally, the problem arises because of the funds. Without the proper money flow, no society can plan anything. But this is not the problem with us”, explains she.

Cultural Education

Festive season has always been special for everyone, especially kids. This is the time when they enjoy a lot, they got see the different idols, decorate the house and get to move around with parents. But as the time is passing and new generation is coming up, this festive season is getting more glamour and losing its original meaning; gathering and learning about the festive and culture.
As it is always said, school is the place where a child learns a lot. Leapbridge International Pre-school takes a proper care that small kids not only learn about numbers and alphabets, but always get to know about the culture and the meaning they are being celebrated.  The Aundh branch In-charge says, “We keep one thing in mind that India being a secular nation, we celebrate every festival. Kids should learn about the integrity and unity since their early ages and that is more important that they learn to celebrate every festival with the same spirit and enthusiasm”.

Caution voters

Pune Municipal Corporation elections are coming forward. The corporators will surely try to win people’s heart and more importantly, votes. But one man has is doing his responsibility by aware voters on how these corporators and ministers try to win our votes.
Kumar Aaher, an Actor/Director/Writer of the play, “Matdar Raja Jaga Ho!!!” says, “Every year the situation is same. As the elections come, these people come out from their comfort and try lot many things to win our votes, either by cash or by kind”. As a social work artist, this is his main concern. Every year, due to these acts, people end up voting for the wrong person.  At the end, they encourage them to follow this tradition so that they can be elected easily.

environment endangered

On July 25th, the General Body made a decision of giving 50 acres of Kothrud hill top to be given to the Automotive Research Authority of India (ARAI) for its expansion. This decision has raised opposition from citizen and from the oppositions.
The Urban Development Department has taken the decision of converting the ‘hill slope zone’ to ‘public/semipublic zone’ in the meeting. But according to the opposition, this land comes under the ‘Merged village’ plan and should not be allotted to the construction of any such industries.

Reserved for women

With the recent decision, women will have equal reservation in the Pune Municipal corporation election that will happen soon. This has raised eyebrows as women are always considered as a person who should sit at home and take care of the house. This has also questioned that does these women will be able to manage the wards or will just end up being a puppet in someone else’s hand.

Film editing: Then and Now

Films have always attracted every individual. Be it the people from past or today’s generations, everyone like films. But the one we enjoy is the hard of many people who are behind the making of these films. Experts say, “Films are made two tables; one is writer’s table and second in Editing table”. Writer has to run his brain through various situations to make story. But the same film can be turned upside down at the Editor’s table. The editing has always been difficult.

Editing has always been a crucial part of film making. Editing can make a bad script into a good film and vise a versa. With the technological advancement, editing might have become easy but it still holds that crucial part. In older days, it was job of pain and hard work. During old days, editing was carried by cutting and fixing the original reel of the film.

Selecting the right stream...

It’s been said, ‘Selecting the right stream at 11th will actually help you decide your future’. Students are more nervous than their results when it comes to selecting the right stream and college while entering into 11th standard. A child, after appearing for 10th board, should be clear enough about what s/he wants to do and where he wants to go. Selecting a stream is equally important that selecting a school for it. They not only select the school, but they also select the faculty, the kind of lab they have, they kind of facility they provide and what all subject they teach which will help them in shaping their future. For this year, 11th admissions in most of the colleges and schools are done, but for the upcoming year, we have asked few colleges we asked what they have to say about the 11th admissions, best five and their cut of marks. Principal of these colleges gives some tips and share their views on the current education situations.

“We understand our responsibility…”

Mr Vinayak (4th from left) and Mrs. Meghna (3rd from Right) with the residents .

How many of us actually understand our responsibility towards society and environment? How many of us actually follow the rules and regulations that would make our living easy? How many of us actually do something which is right, but difficult to follow? How many of us actually leave the comfort zone and take the initiative that is for the goodness of human beings?
There is one group of people, who belong to a building which is in a society, who are thinking about the environment. They live in a society, which is not yet formed, but that is not affecting them from carrying out their responsibility towards Nature. They are carrying out simple activity, which every individual are aware of and every school going children are taught. But their small act is very helpful towards nature. They are simply carrying out what we call as ‘Garbage Recycle’.

Anna is sitting on a hunger strike. Whole Nation is supporting him. Government is trying to save themselves. Anna is taking about ‘Lokpal Bill’. All this issue is only about a bill. What does this bill is all about? Why there are difference between the Anna’s Lokpal Bill and Government’s Lokpal Bill? What are those differences? Why they are not settling on a mid-way? What is this all? City Blog takes bring you all the information about ‘Lokpal Bill’.

Lokpal bill, which is also known as citizens' ombudsman bill, is a proposed law for the anit-corruption in our Nation. The bill first introduced Shanti Bhushan in 1968 and passed in 4th Lok Sabha in 1969. But, it didn’t get through the Rajya Sabha. Subsequent version were re-introduced in 1971, 1977, 1985, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2008; and never passed.

Renewed calls for the bill arose over resentment of the major differences between the draft 2010 Lokpal Bill prepared by the government and that prepared by the members of the associated activists movement- mainly comprising of N. Santosh Hegde, a former justice of the Supreme Court and Lokayukta of Karnataka; Shanti Bhushan, Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhusan, a senior lawyer in the Supreme Court along with the members of the Indian Against Corruption movement.

Catch that Drop

“75 % of the earth is water” , but this doesn’t hold true for the residents of Baner- Pashan link road, who are facing the water problem since a long time. There is much less supply from the PMC which doesn’t satisfy the core needs of the residents.

Harish whose a resident of Rolling hills society since last 2 yrs has the following observations to share on the platform of Indian real estate forum :

PMC supplied water is inadequate. There is a serious water shortage problem. We have been experiencing this for last years. Utility water is by tankers but still the problem is there due to issues between the tanker water supplier and the society.

Desi Flavours in US

Cardamom, cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, tamarind and clove. These are the enticing flavors of Indian cooking — which, as aficionados of the cuisine know, is pretty much impossible to find here on the East End.

But Pallavi Ghayalod is looking to change that, one cook at a time. Ghayalod, grew up near Mumbai, India and moved to the United States shortly after she and her husband were married when she was 19. That was 17 years ago, and the couple now have two children and have lived all over the country, including in Cincinnati, Phoenix, Miami and New York.

Vasota a thrilling jungle experience

First hand report of a trek to Vasota: a fort amidst inaccessable backwaters of Koyna Dam now a part of Sahyadri Tiger reserve.

I woke up in morning, I felt the city buzz and not in a good way. On my way to office I faced Traffic, pollution. I saw a concrete jungle everywhere. Though I have a lot of structured surroundings near home the situation in major cities like Pune is alarming. Hill slopes are destroyed, trees are cut, rivers are blocked and what we face is urban nightmare. Add to that carbon pollution, noise pollution, traffic chaos, inflation, corruption; it’s unbearable. Just as people in the Arab world are doing it, it was time for me to revolt. I revolted and headed towards Vasota, a fort amidst Koyna backwaters. And I was successful in my revolution. I was now refreshed and ready to survive in good old bad cityscape...

Uprising in India

As one closely follows mass uprisings in Arab world, one gets great insight. We Indians hardly know about lives of people in Tunisia or Yemen or egypt (leave aside few songs shot near pyramids). What resulted in such an extreme step taken? How was it made possible for people to communicate and organize protest? Who led the people? Was there any financing involved to sponsor this? Role of web2.0 is also matter for research. It’s very intriguing indeed. But that’s beyond the point.

Cheering for India at Nagpur

Cityblog reader Gautam Naik was at Nagpur to witness India VS S. Africa WC match. He writes his first hand experience.

Imagine the scene: 50,000 people walking out. All are crestfallen. Some are silent, some are cursing. Some are very anxious to get out their car from the parking mess. Some are very hungry, some thirsty for spirits. That was 10 45 pm at Nagpur outside VCA Jamtha stadium just after Robin Peterson hit Nehra the winning boundary. Some clever people had rushed out immediately after Peterson hit second ball for six over long on: farthest point where we were sitting.
Just imagine reverse scenario if Peterson would have giving catch to bhajji at long on or nehra would have been able to produce some dot balls.... The same crowd would have seen dancing out of stadium amidst drums bugles, flags, shouting ‘India-India’. Many would have waited till Man of the match interview to end.... And i would have ended my dream come true in most ideal pattern.

Are Our Children Safe in School

In a society permeated with violence, there are seemingly few places where one can feel completely safe. Schools were typically regarded as safe havens where children are able to learn and grow without the fear of any type of violence. However, with recent incident of rape on a minor girl student by lab assistant in St Hilda’s Girls School, the public’s trust in the security of schools has been severely marred.

The Khadak police recently booked Kailash Memzade, laboratory assistant at a school, for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl student on the school premises. The incident came to light after the victim's mother lodged a complaint against Memzade. Inspector Rajendra Kadam (Crime) told that Memzade allegedly threatened to kill the Std V student if she revealed the incident to anyone. The victim's mother also made a complaint against Memzade to the school authorities.
