Dear Sirs,

Compliments, Pune Traffic Police Decision to Reinstall Barricades at University Bus Stop ! Why simple,effective measures are ignored,discontinued;UNDER PRESSURE Or INEFFICIENCY ?

There have been several Fatal Bus Accidents recently at Bus Stands/Stops at Deccan,PMC,Khadki Bazar,Katraj,Upper Indira nagar,Fatimanagar etc.The bad planning , indiscipline/negligence of bus drivers, encroachment & parking by autos & private vehicles on bus stops etc have been the major cause of unsafe bus stops.

The simple but effective measure of marking distinctly the bus bays, placing barricades on road side,displaying No entry/NoParking Boards, Monitoring by PMP, Police & citizen volunteers( Incentive Schemes) can enhance bus stop safety by more than 50 %.

We wonder why these measures are not adopted and/or not continued. The Barricades placed at University, Balgandharv,Ranade Instt were abruptly removed/missing for no reason, inspite of very good results , safety and discipline.

These are successfully functioning for years at Simla Office & Collector Office bus stops then, why not at other major stops.
i)Bus close to bus stop ii)Commuters on Bus Stops.iii)Difficult for encroachment/parking on bus stops.iv)Uninterrupted other traffic.

In addition to inefficiency and lack of coordination amongst PMP, Police & PMC, there are pressure lobbies of local residents/traders, autos who illegally occupy bus stops for passengers,negligent& indisciplined bus drivers, who just dont want bus bays-barricades-discipline on bus stops.
