1960: Muhammad Ali wins
gold in Rome Olympics
In
August 1960, boxing legend Muhammad Ali, known then as Cassius Clay,
pummeled three-time Polish champion, Zbigniew Pietrzykowski, at the Rome Olympic
Games. The boxer coasted through all four fights and took home a gold medal at
the age of 18. In this photo by an unknown photographer, the legendary boxer is
pictured shortly after winning his medal.
