The first Dan Brown
book to feature his symbologist character Robert Langdon, “Angels & Demons”
finds the sleuth diving deep into the world of the Illuminati. After the murder
of a Swiss researcher, Langdon uncovers a plot to blow up the Vatican, and,
accompanied by a scientist named Vittoria Vetra, must traipse through some of
the most-forgotten parts of the holy city-state in order to stop the
destruction from happening. While the novel received heavy criticism for its
scientific and religious inaccuracies, fans still gobbled the thriller up,
begging Brown to release more.
