Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, Spain

This towering Gothic basilica in Barcelona has become a symbol of the avant-garde city and usually attracts tourists far and wide. The Sagrada Familia is one of many architectural gems in the city but it's the most mesmerizing and intriguing. Antoni Gaudí began work on his masterpiece in 1882 and it is only due for completion in 2026, the centenary of his death in 1926. The famed Catalan architect oversaw the cathedral’s construction and was later buried in a chapel in the Sagrada Familia's crypt
