The Great Influenza
- Author name: John M. Barry
- Date published: 2004
The
horrors of “The Great Influenza” are certainly compounded by present
circumstances, i.e., the coronavirus, but even if the world wasn’t in the midst
of a global pandemic, this nonfiction historical thriller would still be
capable of sending chills down your spine. Written in 2004, the book dives into
the terrifying reality of the last global pandemic: the 1918 flu, or the
Spanish flu. A wonderfully-written book, the novel was so influential it
inspired President George W. Bush to create a comprehensive pandemic plan in
2005.
