Lindau Lighthouse, Germany
Cast in a golden ray of evening sunlight in
this striking photograph, Lindau Lighthouse, pictured opposite the Bavarian
Lion statue, is Germany’s southernmost lighthouse. Located in the town of
Lindau on Lake Constance, it was first lit on 4 October 1856 and was
electrified in 1936, before being automated in the 1990s. Today, ships use
radio signals to light the lighthouse on-demand.
