Living fossil
Up close with a crinoid — a marine animal
related to sea stars and sea urchins. They are sometimes referred to as living
fossils, because they have been around for about 450 million years and can
still be found in the oceans today. This photo was taken in a coral reef in the
Northern Mariana Islands.
