A medieval shopping lane dating back to the 1600s, Bristol's Christmas Steps is one of the few areas in the city that survived the notorious bombing raids during the Blitz. The original steps were constructed in 1669, however, today only four flights of steps (from 1865 and 1881) remain. Home to a variety of unique shops and art galleries, Christmas Steps is part of the Christmas Steps Art Quarter that has its own theater, museum and several pubs, cafés and restaurants
