Edition 7: How to Prepare for JEE

Don't start with a bash. It is no use then. You will be enthu-siastic in the beginning and loosen your vision henceforth. You have to be rigorous and persistent in your approach towards preparing for your goal.

Students need to be thorough with the understanding of concepts and various formulations for preparing for IIT-JEE. This can be judged well by going through a topic and then solve related problems. When you are able to solve each and every problem without referring to the topic, then you have understood the topic well. In some cases, when you have understood the chapter but have to refer to the topic time and again, then the preparation is still incomplete. Get down again redoing that chapter.
*A small step towards effective learning includes tabulating all chapters of a subject. Prepare a time-sheet of all the topics, as you have it in school for your subjects.
*Start preparing all subjects, simultaneously. Look through all the test papers of IIT-JEE for the last ten years and segregate each and every problem relating to the topic.
*Classification as per chapter and concept will lead to better understanding of concept and better problem-solving capability.
*It's no use looking at the solutions time and again. Then you are simply wasting time in preparations. Solve the problem, till you have found a solution or reached a dead end.
*You need to solve each and every problem-whether you know it or not. This will increase your speed as writing builds speed and it may not be the same problem that you might have thought of to be.
Writing is important. Solve the problem with all its steps to internalize concepts.
*Try some alternative easier means of solving problems. This will make you probe your abilities to learn.
*It is always better to discuss a problem with your friends because you might be able to find solution then and there. Discussions improve your learning ability. Also friends might suggest alternative method to problem-solving. Just avoid looking at solutions, completely.
*Don't try to copy your friend or relative in preparing yourself for IIT-JEE. Put in quality hours to study. It's no use sitting for hours and hours and not preparing anything.
*Don't consult too many books. Confine yourself to the study material and a few set of books. Too much will confuse you and make you feel nervous.
Prepare with full concentration. Each and every day is important so don't waste time. Utilize it in stepping towards your ultimate goal.
